Think U-tube is great - now try School Tube. This exciting new website offers the same opportunity for media sharing as U-Tube, but with limitation and security for classroom settings. Teachers are afforded staff development to help them select and complete the appropriate videos or make their own. It is very user friendly and supported by several National Educator Organizations and Associations. Teachers and students can utilize School Tube by searching for research items, sharing experiences with other classrooms around the world, or connecting their learning with the real world. It offers great detail and a wide variety of topics for teachers and students to choose from. The only negative aspect of this website was the speed and clarity of the video. My computer often stopped in the middle and froze temporarily until my computer or the website could catch up. The video images at times were fuzzy or unclear as well. In the 21st century information age, this website is a wonderful tool for educators and students. Students will be familar with the format and feel comfortable using it, and at the same time, teachers and parents can feel comfortable allowing their children to use it because of the safety and privacy controls. I highly recommend this site for teachers looking to introduce a new form of learning to their students!
